Mary
Cassatt is a major Impressionist painter and one of the most
significant American artists. She exhibited side by side with
Renoir, Monet, and her friend, Degas. Cassatt received France's
highest honor, the Legion of Honor, and was also a member of
the National Academy of Design. Cassatt is perhaps best known
for her images of mothers and children. Her work is found in
many museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum
of Fine Art Boston, and the National Gallery of Art.
