Special Exhibition of Danish Art Comes to Oglethorpe University Museum of Art

The Danish American Chamber of Commerce, Georgia will present the exhibition, From Denmark with Georgia on My Mind, bringing to OUMA an exclusive opportunity to see original works of 14 prominent Danish painters and sculptors, as well as to purchase original Danish art. The event is open to the public by reservation on Tuesday evening August 27, from 4 to 8 pm.


OUMA Hosts Two Special Summer Art Workshops

Designed for highly motivated students age 12 years through adult, these two workshop sessions, held at the Museum, will be instructed by WeeSe Whitworth. Class size is limited to 15. Session 1: Drawing
with Leonardo da Vinci

June 18—June 27, 2002
Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, 10 am - 1 pm
The drawings and sketchbooks of Leonardo da Vinci will provide the impetus for this drawing session.
Session 2: Color Theory
Explore the vivid colors of Andy Warhol
July 23
August 1, 2002
Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, 10 am - 1 pm
This color theory exploration will focus on selected works of Andy Warhol.

Coming this Fall:  Female Buddhas: Women of Enlightenment in Tibetan Mysticism

OUMA is delighted to announce our upcoming exhibition, The Female Buddha: Women of Enlightenment in Tibetan Mysticism, scheduled to open in September 2002. To be included in the exhibition is a selection of works from the largest tangka collection in the U.S. – owned by Oglethorpe University alumnus Donald Rubin and Shelley Rubin. Tibetologist Glenn H. Mullin will serve as exhibition curator, and has authored the soon-to-be-published exhibition catalog.

The exhibition, which launches OUMA's Year of Asia, will be on view from Sunday, September 15, 2002 through Sunday, February 16, 2003.

A series of lectures will also be held in conjunction with the exhibition – more information to come...
