No Sho: The Calligraphy of Fukushima Keido Roshi, 2003,
Clear Light Publishers
An example of three-character calligraphy
and an expression of satori
enlightenment. The second character repeats as the third, which
Fukushima indicates with a "repeat" sign that is simpler
in form than the characters above it. The word "bright"
is composed of a sun on the left and a moon on the right, although
the pictographic elements are less visible in the powerful cursive
script. |
