| MANDALA
DISMANTLING CEREMONY |
11:00 am / Sunday,
September 28, 2003
|
|
During this special
ceremony, the mandala was ceremonially swept up, with
half the sand being carried to a local body of water,
where it was deposited. Tradition holds that the water
carries the mandala's blessing to the ocean, which in
turn carries it throughout the world, as an offering
for world peace and harmony. The remaining half of the
mandala sand was given to those in attendance, to keep
in their houses or to scatter around their yards for
healing energy.

The
following events took place in association with the creation
of the White Tara Sand Mandala
|
| CHANTING
AND MEDITATIONS |

Following their work each day, the monks performed chanting
and meditation at the mandala site.

| MANDALA
CONSECRATION CEREMONY |
| On Saturday
December 21, the day of the Winter Solstice, the monks
performed a traditional ceremony for consecration of the
completed mandala. This process activates the mandala,
transforming it into a vessel for the transmission of
healing energies. It will remain as such for the duration
of the Female Buddha
exhibition. |

| SPECIAL
TARA HEALING CEREMONY |
| On
Saturday February 15, the Loseling monks performed a special
ceremony at the mandala site in order to transfer healing
energy from the mandala to special Tara healing pills.
This procedure is based on a mystical Tibetan tradition.
The pills were then distributed to the more than 500 visitors
in attendance. |
