"Flower Boy" by Monte Hahn

“Flower Boy” by Monte Hahn

Curated by Senior Class President Makayla Adams ’22 and OUMA Director Elizabeth Peterson Jennings, Re-Purpose brings together select works by Oglethorpe student Monte Hahn, who passed away in 2021.

Monte’s creative journey straddles the worlds of art and design to include photography, graphic design, sculpture, and fashion using influences from his passions for urban street life, pop culture, and skateboarding.

Repurposing is the unspoken secret of great minds to view raw materials and see potential, inspiring future creations. An artist, photographer, and designer, this was Monte Hahn’s greatest talent. He was gifted to see creative potential in things many would overlook. His fashion encouraged us to think differently, and his photography encouraged us to open our eyes wide to see beauty in the every day.

When visiting “Re-Purpose,” OUMA asks that visitors feel empowered to:

  • Belong. There are no criteria or pre-requisites needed to enjoy this art. You belong here.
