Salvador Dali: New Additions to the OUMA Permanent Collection
July 11 – September 5, 2010
The Oglethorpe University Museum of Art received a gift of 14 large lithographs including 12 four-color lithographs by an anonymous corporate donor. Done by the surrealist Spanish master, Salvador Dali, this collection of prints have never before been exhibited to the public and are now part of OUMA’s permanent collection.
Salvador Dali (1904-1989) was a classically trained artist best known for his dream-like and fanciful images. He is considered to be one of the greatest surrealist masters of the twentieth century. His eccentric self-promotion drew attention to his work while at the same time distracted from it. Dali was born on May 11, 1904 in Catalonia, Spain, and died on January 23, 1989.
