Southeastern Pastel Society

17th International Juried Exhibition

May 6-June 26, 2016

Reception | May 19, 6-8 p.m.

The Southeastern Pastel Society hosts its 17th International Juried Exhibition, featuring 100 pastel paintings selected from submitted works.

The exhibition is juried by Richard McKinley. Richard has been a professional working artist for 38 years and has over 35 years of teaching experience. In 2010, he participated in the American Masters Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club (NYC) and was inducted into The Pastel Society of America’s Hall of Fame at the National Arts Club. His work is represented in several national galleries and is in the permanent collection of the Butler Institute of American Art Museum. He is a frequent contributing editor for Pastel Journal Magazine. An avid plein air painter, Richard divides his time between painting the locations he is passionate about, reinterpreting those paintings back in the studio, writing about art matters, and instructing workshops.

The Southeastern Pastel Society was established in 1987 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting pastel as a medium in the Southeast. The society has grown to approximately 200 members from all over the United States and other nations throughout the world, and includes many nationally and internationally acclaimed artists.

More information, including the exhibition prospectus, is available on the Southeastern Pastel Society’s website.
