The Southeastern Pastel Society presents its 18th International Juried Exhibition, featuring 93 pastel paintings selected out of hundreds of works submitted. The artists represented are from 13 states.

The exhibition is juried by Dawn Emerson, a graduate from Brown University in 1977 with a BA in English and a minor in art. After a career in the Boston area as a graphic designer, Ms. Emerson moved in 1992 with her family to the high desert plateau of Central Oregon. By 1997 she was winning major awards for pastel work and had achieved signature member status with the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Society of the West Coast, and the American Academy of Equine Art, and associate member status with the Society for Animal Artists.

The Southeastern Pastel Society was established in 1987 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting pastel as a medium in the Southeast. The society has grown to approximately 200 members from all over the United States and other nations throughout the world, and includes many nationally and internationally acclaimed artists.

More information, including the exhibition’s prospectus, is available on the Southeastern Pastel Society’s website.
