The Oglethorpe University Museum of Art (OUMA) will participate in the Georgia History Festival’s Super Museum Sunday on February 9, 2025. Super Museum Sunday is part of the annual Georgia History Festival, the signature K-12 educational program of the Georgia Historical Society, reaching thousands of students statewide.

OUMA will join over 100 historic sites, house museums, art museums, and other points of interest throughout Georgia that will open their doors to the public, free of charge.

Guided tours of the museum’s current exhibits will also be available for free. From 2:30-3:30 p.m., Curator of Collections John Daniel Tilford will lead a tour of “Fragile Genius: Catherine Wiley and Beauford Delaney,” a one-of-a-kind exhibit featuring two contrasting American artists together for the first time. From 3:00-4:00 p.m., Museum Director Elizabeth H. Peterson Jennings will lead a tour of “OUMA Collects 2025,” two exhibits showcasing the cultural breadth of the museum’s permanent collection.

The Oglethorpe University Museum of Art is a teaching and learning museum in Brookhaven, GA. The museum hosts several professional exhibits annually, attracting thousands of visitors from Atlanta and beyond. Students, in particular, benefit from the museum and its resources, utilizing access to skilled staff, an expansive permanent collection, and regular professional exhibitions to further studies in curation, studio art, non-profit management, history and more.

OUMA has provided free admission to all visitors since 2021 to eliminate barriers to accessing cultural and artistic experiences. The museum is also committed to uplifting diverse creative voices, particularly those of historically underrepresented demographics. In doing so, the museum seeks to reflect the diversity of Oglethorpe University’s student body, allowing for a robust and impactful artistic education.
